The Asian Image Cup – North West Championships begin this weekend.

Matches this year will be played at the home of Nelson FC – Victoria Park. The tournament was first held in 2002.

Holders Coppice United of Oldham will take on Bury Town FC in the opening fixture (3pm). Whilst beaten 2012 finalists Blackburn FC take on AFC Preston in the second game of the day at 6pm.

Both AFC Preston and Bury Town came through play-off matches earlier this week.

On Sunday, Bolton United, who were runners-up in 2011 take on local side Life FC. And then 2007 winners Asia FC of Rochdale will play Paak United.

Both Life and Paak United hail from the Pendle and Burnley areas and it will be the first time two sides from that area of the Northwest are represented at this tournament.

Semi-finals will take place during the week with the final next weekend.

Games are free to watch and clubs are again encouraged as always to bring supporters with them.

This year’s tournament has been kindly sponsored by law firm AMT Lawyers.
