DAVE Messenger is in pole position in the UK Alfa Romeo Championship after a pair of podiums at Snetterton.

The Eynsham driver secured two third-place finishes at the Norfolk track to establish a five-point lead at the top of the leaderboard, ahead of 2017 champion Andrew Bourke.

There are just two rounds remaining, with the first at Oulton Park in Cheshire and the season finale at Silverstone.

Meanwhile, Finlay Hinds is continuing to make his mark on the motorsport world.

The Minster Lovell schoolboy leads the Motorsport UK British Kart Championships in the Bambino class after finishing fourth in the Super One Series.

Hinds is back in action at Mansell Raceway in Devon, which has a long association with ex-Formula One champion Nigel Mansell, on September 26 and 27.

The youngster’s father, David, was featured in the Oxford Mail three decades ago for his own exploits in a kart.
