GERRARDS Cross has reason to celebrate despite the new season still two months away after members were shortlisted for Bowler of the Year in all three age categories.

Tom McGuinness had a fantastic season which included being a part of the National Fours champions as well as an England Junior call up. He also won the Men’s Championship at Gerrards Cross to demonstrate that bowls is not just for the more mature. McGuinness is shortlisted in the Under 25s category.

John McGuinness is the father of Tom and a well-known bowler as well as captain of England. He has made the shortlist in the main category for a fine season that included winning the National Fours and reaching the semi final of the National Family Pairs.

Gerrards Cross also has a nomination in the Over 55s category after Neil Farnish had a truly outstanding season. Farnish was a part of the National Fours and won the National Over 55s Singles title.

Kirk Smith is the President of Gerrards Cross and said: “This is an amazing achievement for these three incredible bowlers. For the club to have nominations in all categories is just unbelievable and testimony to the quality of bowlers we have here.”

It is the first time the club has had three nominations in a single year. To cast a vote in support of the Gerrards Cross trio go to bowlsengland.com and follow the link.
