YOUNG people from across Bolton, Lancashire and Yorkshire came together to enjoy the beautiful game and help those in need.

Almost 400 youngsters aged from nine to 21 in 50 teams took part in the sixth annual Bolton Football Tournament on Sunday.

The competition had been arranged by the Al-Khair Foundation (AKF) and took place at the Lucozade Power League in Long Lane.

During the day the soccer stars battled to be crowned the winners in seven age categories.

Away from the pitch players and spectators could enjoy a barbecue and sweet stall, and kind-hearted participants and their supporters also raised almost £3,500 for The Gaza Hospital.

Zubair Vali, AKF's national mosque liaison officer and event coordinator, said: "People from all denominations came to support this project in the name of football.

"They had a fantastic day and fundraised for a great cause."
