BURY ABC boxer Ibrahim Nadim clinched a hat-trick of victories to give himself a shot at the England Boxing National Amateur Championship this weekend.
The 20-year-old will head to Manchester Central for finals day on Saturday knowing one more victory, against Dale Youth ABC's John O'Meara, will see him crowned national ABA champion of the men's under-56kg division.
Nadim made it through to finals after a tough weekend at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham.
In the pre-quarter-final on Friday, he won on a split decision to see off Scott Melvin of Eastside Boxing Club.
Then, a day later, he won unanimously on points against John Harker of Henry's ABC.
On Sunday, he beat Connor Adaway (Intense) by a unanimous decision in the last four to seal his final spot.
His opponent this weekend, O’Meara beat Nico Leivars (Hoddesdon) by a split decision in his semi-final.
Bury coach Mick Jelley is confident Nadim's good form can continue in Manchester.
He said: "Ibrahim is a talented lad and has shown his ability in getting to finals day.
"With all the top seeds out, he has a chance to go on and win the title."
