TWO Bury ABC boxers have qualified for the national finals in the Girls and Boys Club Championships after victories in the last four on Saturday at Solihull Leisure Centre in the West Midlands.
Fifteen-year-old Kian Winstanley, fighting in Class A at 63kg, won a unanimous points decision in his semi-final against Jimmy Joyce, of Pinewood Star, while Abdul Khan, aged 16, won on a split decision in his 54kg bout against Joe Collins from Hall Green ABC.
A third Bury ABC fighter, 16-year-old Ali Akbar Javid, narrowly missed out on a final spot when he lost a split decision to Huey Malone, of Christ the King ABC.
Winstanley and Khan will now head to Bridlington on Saturday in a bid to win their first national titles.
On Friday night, at Speke Community Centre in Liverpool, Bury ABC’s Reece Khan, aged 12, won unanimously on points at 27kg against Cody Boyle (Gemini ABC).
