One of the first netball clubs in the region to reach out to Asian women has achieved official accreditation.

Elite Netball Club Blackburn was established ten years ago with an aim to encourage Asian women of all ages to take up the sport many would have last played at school.

Last month the volunteers celebrated finally becoming a netball club.  Ruksana Moress said, “It’s been an incredible journey for Elite Netball Club over the past 10 years.  “We would never have achieved the England Netball Club Accreditation without the hard work from our volunteers and coaches and the support from our participants who make us the netball family we are.  “We are also pleased to announce our official sponsors, Bank View Solicitors Blackburn who are game changers themselves.  “They have supported us with our vision and believe we can make a difference empowering our girls and our ladies across the borough.

“They recognised that this sport is important for ladies to participate in and we are very proud to have them on board supporting us.”

The club has been hosting weekly sessions for members catering for girls and ladies of all ages and abilities from five upwards. It now has three teams who participate in  leagues.”

Ruksana said, “We are different because we have experienced and passionate coaches/ volunteers whose aim is to provide an exclusive netball experience for all.”

“We deliver six sessions a week and that is thanks to our netball family and volunteers. Without their support this would not be possible.”

“Our diversity speaks for itself as we set the benchmark moving forward of how integrated communities work better through a love of netball.

“The sport brings us together no matter where we are from, our faith, culture or background is.”
