Police are treating a fire which extensively damaged a house in Dumfries and Galloway as suspicious.
The blaze at Park House in Kirkcudbright was discovered at around 1pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters spent several hours tackling the flames and police said the unoccupied home has been left “extensively damaged”.
Detective Constable Garry Mitchell said: “Park House is a large 12-bedroom house which sits in its own grounds off the A711 to the south side of Kirkcudbright.
“The property has been unoccupied for some time now.
“Early inquiries indicate that this fire is suspicious and is being treated as such.
“A full joint fire investigation will be carried out when it is deemed safe enough to do so.
“At this stage we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been passed the house on Tuesday morning, leading up to lunchtime when the fire was discovered.
“We want to hear about anyone who may have been seen entering or leaving the grounds of the house.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
