Outstanding pupils from the Al-Islah Girls’ High School were honoured at an annual prize-giving ceremony.

The school hosted the celebration event at The Ivy Venue in Blackburn where the class of 2021 were presented with their GCSE certificates.

The school, located next to the Masjide Noorul Islam on Audley Range, recently had a full Ofsted inspection and achieved a rating of ‘good’.

Headteacher Nikhat Pardesi said: “Despite the restrictions and challenges we face at the moment, it is important to focus on the positives and to continue holding our annual events which are such a key part of our school life.”

“So, there was no doubt in our minds that the Year 11 Presentation Evening would go ahead."

She added: "Indeed, in such a challenging year, it seemed more important than ever to hold this special event that acknowledges the hard work and commitment shown by last summer’s Year 11 students, staff and parents.

“The event was held just after our Ofsted inspection and it was very pleasing to use this opportunity to celebrate together the achievement the school has made.

“The event was a huge success and the school received many positive comments from the local community. I would like to express my gratitude to the pupils, staff, the governing body, respected trustees and the local community who have supported the school over the years.”

The event was also attended by the local councillors, Shamim Desai, Mehfooz Hussain, Zameer Khan and Yusuf Jan Virmani. Two nasheed artists, Hafiz Mizaan and Kamal Uddin to share the special occasion with the school.
