The Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School (TIBHS) has announced it is to launch a sixth form. TIBHS new sixth form ‘TB6’ will be based at the school’s campus on Sumner Street and welcome students in September 2022.

The school, which was judged as outstanding by Ofsted, said TB6 will ‘will provide students with a well-rounded educational experience based on the school’s existing leadership specialism and Islamic faith ethos’.

Majid Ditta, Principal at TIBHS, said: “The launch of our new sixth form, TB6, is a natural progression in our school’s offer to our learners and one which will lead to even better Key Stage 5 outcomes and greater opportunities for our students.

“We have the benefit of the excellent practice from our sister school, Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Sixth Form to build from, who have over the years offered a world class sixth form provision to their learners, achieving phenomenal results.”

In its first year, TB6 will offer core STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) related subjects, including A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics and Mathematics as well as a vocational qualification in BTEC Applied Science.

Students will also have the opportunity to study AS levels in Core Mathematics and Modern Foreign Languages. The school intends to extend the range of subjects on offer in future years as it looks to expand its provision to more sixth form students over a number of years.

Sixth form students will have access to dedicated classrooms, a private study space and the TB6 lounge, as well as benefitting from the school’s sports facilities.

The school will be holding an open day from 4.00 - 6.30pm on Wednesday 3 November when students and their families will have the opportunity to visit TB6 for the first time and meet the school’s leaders and teaching staff.
