Spoken-word poet Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan will be special guest speaker at a free online event hosted by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan; Muslim, award-winning poet, playwright and author of the book Postcolonial Banter, will share some of her work at the virtual event on the 24 June. Her work centres arounds themes of racialisation, Islamophobia, gender, feminism, state violence and decoloniality in Britain.
The live event, which will take place on Microsoft Teams, has been organised by senior lecturer in film, media, and popular culture at UCLan Fazila Bhimj.
She said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Suhaiymah to the University. She is known for her engaging and outspoken poetry that aims to disrupt and challenge the listener. Please come and join us for thought-provoking afternoon to discuss your own political perspectives and identities.” T
he free event will take place from 2.00pm – 3.30pm on Thursday 24 June. People can take part via Microsoft Teams.
