An outgoing council leader, a Lord and one of the country’s foremost lawyers were commended as a business hosted a Ramadan dinner.

Star Tissue UK hosted the annual fast breaking event to primarily thank staff, friends, and family for their support during the past few years.

Due to Covid the event had to be cancelled for two years, so this year the company said they wanted to pay homage to local success stories whilst also supporting community organisations and charities for their efforts during the pandemic.

At the dinner held at the Grand Venue, the outgoing Council Leader Mohammed Khan CBE, Lord Wajid Khan of Burnley and Mohammed Nawaz QC were also among those thanked for their contributions to the county.

Star Tissue UK was founded by the late Allah Ditta and is now run by his three sons Khalid, Abid, Sajid and family members.

Khalid Saifullah MBE who was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire in 2019 said he was delighted to be able to able to host the event again.

He said: “It was great to see old friends come to break their fasts together again.

“It has been a difficult two years for all our communities and it was great to be able to thank the staff for their hard work.

“There is always a huge community focus in what we do and this was a great way of reaching out to volunteers and charities who have made that extra effort to assist others.”
