A group of extremists had organised a protest outside the Olympic Park during the Olympics opening ceremony.
The group led by organisers Mizanur Rahman and Anjem Choudhary, hoped to voice their disapproval to condemn what they call the ‘Evil Olympics’. However the protest was abandoned.
Mizanur Rahman said police had made it clear to him that the protest should not go ahead.
Rahman then went onto say, "We would have been immediately arrested otherwise.” He had previously served a four-year jail term for encouraging followers to kill British and American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq during a demonstration in London in 2006.
