A CARE home group has been raising money for Parkinson's UK.

Staff and residents across Spellman Care homes staged activities.

At Springbank in Silsden, a pie-loving resident – who himself has Parkinson's – went out into the community to sample some of the tastiest offerings, and returned with samples for fellow residents to try.

And at Steeton Court, there was a special fundraising buffet, featuring a wide selection of food.

Events also took place at Spellman's other homes – Ghyll Royd, in Guiseley, held a coffee morning which was open to the whole community, and Craven Nursing Home at Skipton hosted a staff 'non-uniform day'. Employees were encouraged to wear blue, the signature colour of Parkinson's UK, in return for a donation.

Philippa Young, Spellman's group operations manager, says: "Parkinson's UK is a charity close to our heart, as we have several residents across the group living with the condition.

"It was fantastic to see so many members of the Spellman Care community getting involved to raise money."

In total, over £179 was coined-in for the charity.

The group now has fundraisers underway for Macmillan and Dementia Friendly Keighley.
