A FORMER Borders pub has been given a new lease on life as it launches its new accommodation.

In 2021 property investors Fiona and Mark Cameron bought the Harrow Inn at Sime Place in Galashiels with the aim of transforming the pub into a business and residential space.

Now the couple have celebrated the opening of the inn's upstairs rooms which are now available as short term lets.

Consisting of five one-bedroom studio rooms, the studios boast a number of amenities.

Mark said: "After COVID we noticed that a lot of B&Bs around the town just didn't open back up.

"People were saying there was a real lack of short stay accommodation.

"We're lucky it's right next to the tapestry building which we hope will draw in lots of visitors to the town.

"We've got a steady number of bookings coming through."

Mark added that he hopes companies whose workers travel to Galashiels can also make use of the rooms.

Each of the studio rooms include superking, king, double and twin rooms, a kitchenette with complimentary coffee machine and pods, tea and biscuits, and a smart TV with streaming services.

Mark and Fiona are also hoping to welcome a tenant to set up their business in the lower floors of the Harrow.

The rooms at Sime Place are the latest addition to Fiona and Mark's portfolio of short-term lets in Galashiels, alongside their student properties in the town and the former Corner House Hotel in Innerleithen which is now home to Anthony Almond's Out Out Gastro Pub and Pizzeria.

The rooms at Sime Place also welcome guests with pets.
