Saddleworth Round Table and 41 Club have presented a commemorative plaque at Saddleworth Museum to Roger Tanner MBE, a respected community benefactor.
The ceremony was attended by 35 people, including several members of the Tanner family.
Deputy Lieutenant of Manchester, Anne Sykes, unveiled the plaque accompanied by her husband Reverend Chaplain John Sykes, Chaplain to the late Queen Elizabeth II, and members of the Tanner family.
Anne said: “Roger was a much-respected gentleman far beyond Saddleworth.”
Frederick Tanner, Roger’s nephew, spoke on behalf of the family and thanked Anne and John for their kind words and Saddleworth.
Roger, also a former Deputy Lieutenant, a founder member of Saddleworth Round Table, 41 Club and founder of Saddleworth Museum; and a great many Saddleworth Societies and the Saddleworth Festival of the Arts.
The plaque is to be positioned on the front of the Saddleworth Museum with Saddleworth Round Table and 41 Club donating the plaque.
