More than three months of roadworks will start a week today with part of Crompton Way reduced to a single lane.

Work will start on Eagley Brook Bridge on April 22 and is expected to last 14 weeks according to Bolton Council.

As a result traffic will be reduced to one lane between Tonge and Astley Bridge.

The lane closure will be in place between Hallbridge Gardens and Van Leuuwen.

The aim is to improve the underside of the bridge.

A council spokesperson said: “Bolton Council would like to give advanced notice of refurbishment works to the underside of Eagley Brook Bridge, Crompton Way.

“These works are planned to start on April 22 for approximately 14 weeks.

“To facilitate these works, it will be necessary to reduce westbound traffic down to one lane, between Hallbridge Gardens and Van Leeuwen.

“Every effort will be made to keep possible disruption to a minimum.

“Bolton Council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to local residents and road users, your patience would be appreciated during this time.”
