A social prescriber has won the Made In Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw.

Julie Bentley, of the Prestwich and Whitefield GP Federation, has scooped the draw with ticket number 20703.

Julie's role, which she has held since 2019, involves helping people access non-medical support in the community.

Whether it is signposting people to support services or running drop-in centres and activities, such as local walks, Julie helps to break down barriers for people who are struggling and supports with access to available services.

She joined the draw as a ticketholder in June 2018. She said she joined because, like her work, it supports people, as well as local businesses through its business academy.

The academy supports businesses within their first few years of trading.

Julie was "elated" to hear she won and said that both her and her partner have "big birthdays" this year so they will be using the winnings to celebrate in style.

Academy members receive invaluable access to business mentors, training to support with growth and development, plus support and encouragement from a fantastic network of likeminded individuals.

The academy is funded through the tickets from the draw, which means, for every ticket sold, the proceeds go to support new businesses within the borough.
