Work is underway to transform a former hair salon into a takeaway in Royal Wootton Bassett.

But it's not clear which business will be moving in to the old Major Look hair and beauty premises on Gainsborough Avenue.

A Facebook page called 'Papa John's Pizza Royal Wootton Bassett' was created this week and a post promises that a new store in the town is coming "very soon".

Residents are asked to like the page for "opening deal updates" and to "spread the news" with friends and family.

And Google suggests the pizza chain will open a Wootton Bassett store on Gainsborough Avenue on November 7.

But a Papa John's spokeswoman said the pizza delivery company is unable to confirm any new openings or timings until a store opens.

It comes less than two months after a new branch of Domino's Pizza opened its doors in Wootton Bassett.

It took over the former Barclays bank building on the town's High Street on July 30.

Papa John's had submitted a plan to transform the former bank in 2020 but later withdrew these plans.

The planning conditions for the new Gainsborough Avenue takeaway include strict opening hours.

The store will only be open to customers between 11am and 10pm from Monday to Sunday and 12pm to 10pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The business will also have to comply with these hours for deliveries to and from the site.

Wiltshire Council's decision letter states this is to "ensure the creation/retention of an environment free from intrusive levels of noise and activity in the interests of the amenity of the area."
