A vulnerable man has been taken into an ambulance, after attempting to climb a tree.

Residents say that emergency services were on the scene from around 10am at Cedar Avenue, Horwich.

Police, fire, and paramedics were still on the scene at just after 2pm.

The man was helped down from the tree by emergency services, where they had to cut part of the tree down.

The man was later brought out on a stretcher and out into the ambulance.

A spokesperson from North West Ambulance Service said: "We transported a male in his 20’s with back injuries following a fall from a tree to Salford Royal hospital."

Emergency services stayed at the scene for several hours.

The nature of the incident has not been confirmed yet.

A local resident who often sees him walking his dogs waited to make sure he was okay.

GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) have confirmed that an at-risk vulnerable man attempted to climb a tree, and emergency services were there to help him.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
