A SKIP fire in a Buckinghamshire village yesterday comes amid a string of fires and hot weather across the county.

Fire crews were alerted to a fire in the open on Mill Lane in Chalfont St Giles on August 8 at 3.35pm.

One Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service appliance and crew from Amersham fire station attended the scene on the leafy residential road.

Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire affecting eight metres by eight metres of hedgerow, building materials and skips.”

The firefighters used one main jet, a hose reel jet and one fog spike to get the situation under control.

The fire comes after a major fire near M40 in Marlow Bottom was captured on video, a large field fire in Butlers Cross required multiple fire crews to attend, and a fire in a flat caused by a cigarette in Aylesbury.

Buckinghamshire residents were warned of another heatwave expected to hit the county today August 9 and expected to last for seven days. Temperatures can reach 35C or even 36C on Saturday, Met officials warned.
