FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire after it broke out in Langley last night (August 8).

Trees were reportedly on fire behind a house in Cherry Avenue near to the railway track, an eyewitness said.

They said at one point the flames were at least 50ft high.

A spokesperson for Royal Berkshire Fire and Recue Service said crews were on the scene for around three hours.

They said: "At 9:24 pm on Monday, 8 August, we received reports of a fire in the open on Cherry Avenue in Slough.

"Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough, Langley and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene alongside two officers.

"Upon arrival, crews found that a fire had spread across several gardens, destroying four sheds and a number of trees. Firefighters used two main jets, two hose reels to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots."
