A MAN was run over by a car during a robbery in Warrington town centre.

The 47-year-old victim was walking on Town Hill at around 2pm on Friday, November 12, when a small, dark-coloured car stopped at the roadside.

Two unknown men – who are described as being Asian and in their mid-20s – inside the vehicle asked him for directions before the passenger snatched his mobile phone.

They then drove off in the direction of Scotland Road, but ran over his foot as they did so.

He fell to the floor and suffered a number of cuts and bruises as a result.

Cheshire Police’s enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective sergeant David Schofield said: “This victim has been left shaken as a result of his ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to identify the people responsible.

“This incident occurred close to the centre of Warrington on a busy Friday afternoon, and as part of our investigation I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have witnessed the incident.

“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.

“I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact the team here at Warrington on 101 or at cheshire.pnn.police.uk/tua, quoting incident number IML1130639.”
