Waltham Forest residents are being urged to take a test twice a week even if they do not have Covid-19 symptoms.
A host of community groups across East London have joined the a campaign to support families and keep communities safe this summer.
In a local engagement event organised by the council members from Waltham Forest Women’s Network, Muslim Aid, Tamil Sangam group, and community radio NuSound joined resident volunteers to give out free rapid test kits, information leaflets, and help and advice around testing.
The event was part of the council’s campaign to reach communities, particularly south Asian people who are more likely to test positive for Covid, become severely ill and die than any other minority ethnic group in the UK.
One in 3 people who have Covid-19 do not show symptoms but can still spread the virus without knowing it. Rapid test kits are quick and easy to use at home and you get a test result in 30 minutes.
