Two Manchester cyclists are campaigning to raise awareness and funds for Palestine.

The dynamic duo, Noor Alam, 36, and Ahtsham Arfan, 41, famously known as the ‘2 Muslim Night Riders’ have joined forces with Dabbagh Welfare Trust (DWT) to champion a worthy cause.

They will cycle across Greater Manchester for the campaign, then on Saturday, June 5 they will be involved in a charity fundraiser from 6pm onward.  They aim to raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people, in doing so their hope is that people will donate to the emergency charity appeal of DWT.

Nooralom and Ahtesham have been friends for 15 years and decided at the start of the lockdown to take up cycling for their physical and mental health.

They decided to make videos of their mainly nocturnal adventures and share them on YouTube. They have received a great response since they started '2 Muslim Night Riders'. They have more than 5000 subscribers and their videos have been viewed 60,000 times.

Ahtsham, who has worked as a teacher and is presently a civil servant said: “We decided to start exercising when the lockdown began - for weight loss and to get fit. We opted to go on night bike rides as we are busy with family and work during the day.

“Our city is very peaceful and beautiful at night and is actually very safe, but we ride through familiar areas and avoid alleyways and dark places just in case.

The pair are raising awareness for the live charity appeal of DWT for Palestine which will be broadcast on the DWT Facebook page and Youtube channel.

Noor Alam said: “We are expecting donors from many countries including Canada, USA, Bangladesh and Denmark. DWT carry out great work and are trustable. They have people on the ground in Gaza ready to distribute aid.”

Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the Palestine emergency appeal. The charity is already in Gaza providing vital support to Palestinians after the devastating Israeli assault on the Gaza strip.  More than 60 children were killed with around 1900 injured. Islam’s third holiest site was violated by the Israelis which caused an escalation in violence.

Dabbagh Welfare Trust operates in the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian subcontinent.
