There have been two further reports of crashes on the M65 this evening.

UPDATE: The incident is now causing around seven miles of congestion on the M65 westbound between junctions six and three adding at least an hour to normal journey times.

It is believed one lane is closed westbound from junction three for Chorley Road (Blackburn West/Wheelton/Walton) to junction two for the M61 junction nine at Clayton Brook.

Congestion is building back to junction four which is also affecting traffic between Blackburn and Preston.

There are severe delays of around 36 minutes between junction five for Guide and Shadsworth and junction two for the M61 Clayton Brook.

Meanwhile on the eastbound carriageway one lane is closed and traffic has slowed due to a crash between junction two for the M61 and junction three for Chorley Road.

Lane two of two is closed.

A spokesperosn for the AA traffic and travel website said: "This is a separate accident to the one westbound at junction three."
