A YOUNG woman has been left “too scared” to walk on her own after a harrowing pursuit by a man who followed her flashing his genitals.

Megan-Ellie Winchester, 20, was walking to her grandmother’s house in Manningtree.

She noticed a man staring at her and beginning to rapidly approach her in Quay Street.

He then undid his trousers and exposed his genitalia to her while following her.

Miss Winchester said the incident has since left her “on edge”.

“He was staring at me, that’s when I first noticed him because he just wouldn’t stop looking at me,” she said.

“The closer he got the more uneasy I felt. He then undid his trousers and pulled his penis out.

“He started following me and I started speeding up, whispering to my friend on the phone that I needed the police.

“I turned around and the man had disappeared so I carried on walking really fast. I looked back again and I could see him watching me from behind a car.”

Having been followed for three or four minutes, Miss Winchester was able to approach a group of people on Manningtree beach who hid her from her pursuer.

She then saw the man disappear into The Crown pub car park, in High Street.

She added: “I’m really on edge now, I never expected people like that to be about in Manningtree, you never really hear of things like that here.

“It was horrible. I didn’t know what he was going to do.”

Weeks later, on April 28, the 20-year-old was in The Crown with a group of friends when she was shocked to see a man who she believed to be her pursuer again.

Police have since confirmed they are looking for a man described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, and of slim build.

He wore a long green coat which came down to his knees and wore a grey hooded top.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Clacton’s Local Policing Team on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/39581/21.
