A body has been found at the scene of a fire, police have said.

On Saturday, April 24th, the emergency services attended a fire at a commercial address on Lower Hollin Bank Street in Blackburn.

Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 28th) police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at the same address and officers attended.

Following a search by police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service the body of an adult was sadly discovered at the property.

How long the body had been there is currently unknown.

Enquiries are now underway to identify the deceased and to establish the circumstances surrounding their death. The cause of the fire remains under investigation with colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
