Software Engineer Dilani Selvanathan will tackle her fear of heights by skydiving to raise funds for the charities - BulliesOut and Beauty with a Purpose.
From a young age, Dilani has raised thousands of pounds for charitable causes through traditional cake sales, charity raffles, social non-uniform days, challenges and car boot sales, as well as social media events.
This year she said she wanted to take a more extreme approach, by challenging herself to overcome one of her greatest fears.
Dilani said: “I have been afraid of heights for as long as I can remember.
“Earlier this year I was having second thoughts about doing a charity skydive. But as I see it, I have one life and if I want to make a difference, I have to get out there and make my voice heard, even if this means pushing myself to the limit. So here I am, determined to skydive for a greater purpose.
"I want to promote the work done by BulliesOut. I was bullied as a child and this charity helped me in my time of need, asking for nothing in return. I have been a BulliesOut Ambassador since I was 13.”
Dilani is also a Miss England Contestant competing for the Miss Popularity title in a competition run by the Beauty with a Purpose charity, which raises funds to help disadvantaged children the world over.
Dilani said: “To me, beauty isn’t about appearance or physical attributes; it’s about personality and what’s on the inside. Purpose is what drives you and what you’re passionate about.
“To make a real difference, I need to reach out to communities and raise awareness nationwide about the issues I feel matter most. They include addressing bullying; promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths to young people; and campaigning against the pollution caused by single-use plastic.”
