Superintendent Abid Khan has been announced as a new Operations Manager for Burnley, Rossendale, Pendle and the Ribble Valley.

Supt Khan grew up in the Rossendale town of Haslingden, where he began his career as a police officer in what was then known as the Pennine division. Following his initial posting on immediate response, Supt Khan quickly moved through specialist roles such as firearms and training functions.

He spent time in neighbourhood policing as the local geographic Inspector for Blackburn with Darwen and recently leading in a role on Workforce Representation at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters, in Hutton.

Having spent most of his 25 years of service allocated to the East, Supt Khan said he was looking forward to his new role.

Supt Khan said: β€œIt’s a privilege to return to East Lancashire; a division where I have spent most of my career and developed my skills as an officer. I am passionate about providing the very best service for the diverse communities we serve, tapping into community needs with a focus on supporting our staff to achieve the very best outcomes for them.

"The last twelve months have been particularly challenging for everyone, but as we look forward to moving out of lockdown and back to some sense of normality, I will prioritise the voice of our communities and continue to work closely with partner agencies to protect those most vulnerable and keep the people of Lancashire safe, and feeling safe.

"I encourage our communities to speak up on topics that matter most to them, by signing up to Lancashire Talking and work with our officers to keep Lancashire a safe place for all.”

Superintendent Khan will be based at Greenbank divisional headquarters.
