A BRADFORD designer has helped kit out the Prime Minister for a second time after sending him cufflinks, a tie and braces.

Imran Khan, owner of IK Collections based in Westgate, wrote to Boris Johnson with the gift of the items and has since received a reply.

The idea came from one of his employees, Jean Holt, who said she wanted to send a gift to Mr Johnson.

They decided to send the cufflinks and received a reply on behalf of Mr Johnson on Downing Street-headed paper.

Mr Khan's company quickly heard back from the corridors of power, with a letter, written on behalf of Mr Johnson, from his direct communications unit.

The letter said: "Dear Ms Holt. I am writing on behalf of the Prime Minister to thank you very much for your letter received on December 16, 2020 and for sending him braces, tie and cufflinks.

"Thank you, once again, for taking the time and trouble to contact the Prime Minister.

"With all good wishes. Yours sincerely, Correspondence Officer."

Mr Khan says he is willing to make a suit for Mr Johnson's future wedding to fiancee Carrie Symonds if asked by Downing Street.

Mr Khan said: "I thought he needed to sort his suit out. I have noticed that he doesn't wear a belt and thought he would like the items we made for him.

I don't know, maybe this year, we could make a suit for him if he gets married. If we're asked we would do it and it would be really good

"We want to put Bradford on the map."

Mr Khan says the letter sent on behalf of Mr Johnson has taken pride of place in his shop in Westgate.

He received a similar letter from Downing Street when he sent Mr Johnson a pair of gold cufflinks in June last year.

The tailor firm has also suited and booted other of the nation's political leaders.

Mr Khan produced a suit for former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn featuring the words "For the many" in the pinstripe, which Mr Corbyn wore on the General Election campaign trail in Whitby last year.

Mr Johnson has become the latest well-known name to receive a gift from Mr Khan's company.

The designer made sure Captain Sir Tom Moore is suited and booted after kitting him out in three suits.

The 100-year-old replied and invited Mr Khan to his home where he completed his 100-lap challenge which raised more than £33 million for NHS charities.

Captain Sir Tom tried on his three suits for the first time when he came home to Keighley last summer.

He is the latest well-known name to be kitted out by IK Collections, which has a shop in Westgate, Bradford, with other clients including boxers Chris Eubank Jr, Amir Khan, Tyson Fury, DJ Tom Zanetti and Duncan James from boyband Blue.
