A major new supermarket has opened in Oldham fulfilling a family dream.

The 4000 sq ft Westwood Bazaar is based in the heart of the town and was launched this month by Foiz Khan whose late father, Jahir Uddin Khan had the idea of opening a grocery store back in the late nineties.

The original Westwood Bazaar opened in early 2000 and twenty years on the family have launched a spacious new supermarket hoping to continue the dream of Jahir Uddin Khan.

Foiz Khan, Director of new Westwood Bazaar based at Ellen Business Park said: “As a local businessman my father always wanted to serve the community that was near and dear to him.

“Sadly, not so long after his plans, our beloved father passed away. Unable to fulfil his dream, his siblings took on the task and made a big decision to open their first grocery store called ‘Westwood Bazaar’ in 2000.

“On the back of the reputation and respect of our father had already built for himself in the community the all new Westwood Bazaar has been launched this month.”

All guests who attended the launch were given a guided tour of the supermarket and served light a meal.

Foiz said: “The support and feedback from the community has been really encouraging. Leading up to the grand opening a trolley sweep competition was held on social media where 5 lucky winners were given the opportunity to fill up their trolleys in 60 seconds and take the items home for free. More than £500 worth of goods were given away.

“The new site is fully fitted out so customers can enjoy a clean, hassle free and easy shopping experience.”
