A YOUNG driver who had his licence revoked until he passed another test crashed into another vehicle on a roundabout.

Blackburn magistrates heard Mohammed Avais Fasal’s speed was estimated at 40 mph when he entered the roundabout in Waterloo Road, Clitheroe.

Fasal, 21, of Revidge Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and other than in accordance with a licence. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 12 months.

Stacey Morrow, prosecuting, said police were called to a collision on the roundabout at the junction of Shawbridge Street and Waterloo Road.

CCTV showed the Vauxhall Astra driven by Fasal approaching the roundabout at speed.

“He made no attempt to slow down for the roundabout and failed to give way to a VW Polo,” said Miss Morrow. “Officers from the police collision unit said the defendant’s speed had been about 40mph,” she added.
