A fundraiser who set himself the challenge of walking 86 miles before his 86th birthday is set to complete his final mile next week.

Inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore’s epic fundraiser for the NHS, Charles Hanson aimed to cover the distance – a mile for every year of his life – before his birthday on December 29 in aid of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.

He's due to finish his 86th mile on Thursday but has vowed to continue to walk every day until his birthday anyway.

Charles has already raised £7,000 which will help the hospices continue to provide care for local people with life-limiting illnesses.
