FITNESS fanatic Danny Morgan is taking on his most gruelling challenge yet this Remembrance Day.

Today he gets his 48 hour challenge in aid of Help For Heroes under way.

Danny will be undertaking a workout made popular by Crossfit, in memory of Lt. Michael Murphy who was nicknamed Murph. Murph died in action in 2005 and, 15 years later, his legacy still lives on.

The Murph requires you to perform a mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 press-ups, 300 squats and a mile run while wearing a 20lb weighted vest or body armour.

But this is a Murph workout with a difference. Danny will perform as many as possible over a 48 hour period when he will be locked away in a Southampton gym alone for two days and nights with friends and family only able to cheer on his efforts online.

Danny told the Daily Echo: "Within the 48 hours it will take me to push through this challenging experience, 14 servicemen and women will have been medically discharged from our forces.

"40,000 lives have been derailed, a number that continues to grow. Putting an end to careers some veterans have given their absolute everything to and others... their lives.

"I believe it only fair to fight for those who have fought for us and made the ultimate sacrifice."

Danny has already raised £715 of his £1,000 goal for Help For Heroes, which provides lifelong recovery support to service personnel who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.
