POLICE have been urging drivers to take care in foggy conditions overnight and the early hours of the morning following accidents, including a dramatic one where a driver collided with a lamp post in Halifax.

The West Yorkshire Police Road Policing Unit reported the driver and passengers of the dark coloured car in the picture were uninjured after the vehicle crashed into the lamp post in very foggy conditions overnight.

Road traffic officers tweeted: "A reminder to take extra care whilst driving in reduced visibility. With poor visibility and poor road conditions, please take extra care and give yourself extra stopping distance."

Following an accident on the M62 this morning, another traffic officer tweeted: "There has been heavy fog on the M62 over the last couple of days.

"Put your lights on. Daytime running lights are not enough and automatic headlights may not activate."
