A DRUNKEN woman who demanded police give her a lift home because she was a “tax payer” ended up assaulting two officers.

Blackburn magistrates heard police had been called by Kerry Anne Mallett’s partner who wanted her removed from his home because she was drunk.

Mallett, 45, of Brothers Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and two charges of assaulting an emergency worker in the execution of their duty. She was fined £400 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to each of the officers.

Stacey Morrow, prosecuting, said police were called to an address on Suffolk Street, Blackburn, at about 10.45pm.

The householder said his partner was drunk and she was refusing to leave his house.

She initially refused to leave but then agreed. Outside she became aggressive and demanded a lift home because she was a taxpayer.

She was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and as she was being arrested shouted; “Get off me you pigs.”

While she was being arrested Mallet lashed out and kicked both officers.

Ben Leech, defending, said his client was apologetic when she was interviewed and bitterly regretted her behaviour.

“She can’t turn back the clock and stands to be punished for what she has done,” said Mr Leech.

He said his client had mental health problems and about 15 years ago started to use alcohol as a crutch to get her through some of the problems she was having.

“That resulted in her becoming an alcoholic and while she has been through rehab she has relapsed,” said Mr Leech.
