A SEX offender who was sleeping rough failed to register with the police on a weekly basis as required by conditions of the sex offender register.
Blackburn magistrates heard Kenneth John Flynn initially told police that he was homeless.
Flynn, 57, of no fixed address, admitted failing to comply with registration requirements. He was sentenced to four weeks in prison suspended for six months.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said Flynn had been put on the sex offender register for seven years in 2016 after being convicted of indecent exposure.
Damian Pickup, defending, said when he lost his accommodation Flynn initially did the right thing and told the police. “He tells me he thought he had 28 days before he reported again but is now aware he has to report every seven days.
“He has been to numerous hostels but can’t get anywhere to live and the officer who arrested him found him sleeping in a doorway."
