KEIGHLEY and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has welcomed the news that the Government is providing funding for Bradford District Council for new, long-term homes for rough sleepers and other vulnerable people.
The council will receive £1,455,470 for local schemes that provide secure ‘move on’ style accommodation for people at risk of sleeping on the streets. Finding accommodation also helps keep vulnerable people safe from coronavirus.
Mr Moore said: "It’s important for the Government to work closely with local authorities if we are to end homelessness and rough sleeping. There are lots of circumstances that people find themselves without a roof over their heads and without judgement we have to offer a hand to get those people back on their feet. This is an important step towards achieving the Conservative Party’s manifesto commitment to end rough sleeping by 2024."
