A HOMELESS man who was allowed to sleep in his mum's shed kicked off when she wouldn't let him into her house.

Blackburn magistrates heard Keiron McKillop was "ranting and raving" outside his mum's house and officers who attended formed the opinion he was under the influence of drugs of some kind.

McKillop, 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £34 victim surcharge.

Scott Parker, prosecuting, said police were called to an address in Burnley at 6.40 pm on Saturday. McKillop was banging and kicking on his mother's door and the officers were aware of recent similar behaviour.

"He was shouting loudly and swearing and the officers were concerned about other residents being disturbed by him," said Mr Parker.

"He was saying things like the police had kidnapped him and raped his kids and he made reference to having a knife and that he would kill himself."

Mr Parker said McKillop refused to calm down and because of his erratic behaviour the officers formed the opinion he was under the influence of some substance.

Mark Williams, defending, said his client had a significant issue with Spice.

"When he takes it his mental health is affected," said Mr Williams.

"Sometimes he ends up in hospital and sometimes he ends up in court."

He said the defendant had lost his accommodation at De Lacy House in Blackburn and had gravitated back to Burnley where his mother lives.

"He is allowed to stay in her shed but not to enter his mother's home," said Mr Williams.

"He was ranting and raving, not at anyone in particular, but it is accepted people in the vicinity may have been disturbed by it."
