A DRUNK who offered to help a woman unload her car later tried to steal from it.
Blackburn magistrates heard Richard Westwood's offer was declined and he was then seen on CCTV hiding behind a wall.
When the car owner went into her shop he put his hand inside his sleeve and tried the car doors.
Westwood, 34, of Spring Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to vehicle interference. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
The court heard the car owner was unloading board games outside her charity shop, The Secret Santa, in King William Street, Blackburn, when she was approached by Westwood who was heavily intoxicated.
She declined his offer of help and when she had finished locked her car and went inside.
Waseem Choudhary, defending, said drugs and alcohol were behind his client's offending.
