TIER 3 talks in West Yorkshire look set to continue for another day as discusssions remain "ongoing".

It's now been two weeks since MP Naz Shah first revealed officials were 'invited' to discuss a Tier 3 lockdown in Bradford district and surrounding areas.

And as infection rates continue to climb, bypassing many areas currently under Tier 3 elsewhere, West Yorkshire Combined Authority said it will continue talks with Government meetings tomorrow (October 28).

Nottingham and parts of the surrounding county are the latest areas to be moved into the top tier of Covid restrictions.

Here in Bradford, many politicians and councillors have raised concerns about the purpose of Tier 3 with MP Philip Davies expressing his belief that "We're in danger of the cure becoming worse than the virus itself".

In one of the latest developments, West Yorkshire's MPs met with England's medical officials via conference call to discuss the current Coronavirus situation in the county.

In a statement, the authority said: "This afternoon we met with Government ministers to discuss the worsening COVID-19 infection rate in the region and our proposals to strengthen community engagement, test and trace, and supporting the vulnerable while protecting jobs and livelihoods. Discussions remain ongoing and will continue tomorrow.”
