TRAVELLERS who were encamped in Apperley Bridge train station car park since early October were evicted today.
There were tense scenes this morning as bailiffs and police were called in to evict the travellers.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority said: “We can confirm that bailiffs and police attended the site at Apperley Bridge station today to evict the remaining travellers following the Court Hearing which took place on October 15.
"A substantial amount of waste has been removed from the site and we are cleaning the area to bring it back into a good state for station users.
"We will be taking further measures to prevent travellers gaining access again and thank local residents and station users for their patience during this time.”
The travellers had been at the site since October 2.
