A DUNFERMLINE man has been jailed for repeated domestic abuse.

Dean Steward, 33, of Kennedy Crescent, more recently living in Livingston, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on April 8 at Kennedy Crescent he assaulted his long-term partner by grabbing her by the body, pinning her to the ground and slapping her on the head.

Steward also admitted breaching a court order following a previous assault on her.

He had admitted that on July 12 last year at his home he assaulted his partner by pushing her, causing her to fall on to a sofa and straddled her to her injury.

He also admitted shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.

Steward further admitted struggling violently with three police officers.

For these offences he had originally been sentenced to a community payback order with 18 months supervision and 165 hours of unpaid work.

However, having breached that order he was re-sentenced for those offences as well as the more recent incident.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said: “He’s looking for another opportunity to show he can change.”

Sheriff James MacDonald pointed out that Steward had three convictions for violence against the same woman.

He told Steward: “You present a danger to this lady and arguably any partner.”

He jailed Steward for 160 days and imposed a one-year non-harassment order.
