A HORSE was rescued from a water-filled ditch after it got stuck.
Firefighters and specialist rescue crews from Bridgwater were called to Othery at 12.20pm on Sunday (September 27) afternoon.
"On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that a large horse was stuck in a water filled ditch and got to work making the scene safe while awaiting the arrival of the vet," said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
"Once in attendance the vet sedated the horse, and specialist rescue teams set up strops around the horse and along with the assistance of a local farmer with a telehandler, removed the horse from the ditch.
"The horse was left in the care of the vet and its owner."
