A MAN jailed for breaching a restraining order went round to his former partner's home within four days of his release and committed another breach.

Blackburn magistrates heard the latest offences meant David Hargreaves was going back behind bars having been recalled on prison licence.

Hargreaves, 43, of Melville Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two breaches of the order by attending at his ex-partner's home and contacting her. He was jailed for eight weeks.

Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, said the order had been in place in one shape or another since 2013 and the latest offences had led to the order being put in place indefinitely.

"He had been out of prison for just four days and, having had a drink with friends, he took it upon himself to go to her house at 5 am," said Mr Gaffney. "He was outside the house he was prohibited from attending and he was speaking to the person he was prohibited from speaking to."

Mr Gaffney said Hargreaves told police he wanted to speak about a possible reconciliation.

"He knows turning up in drink wasn't the best idea and he also accepted there is no indication from her that she wants to rekindle the relationship," said Mr Gaffney.

"Recent breaches had led to prison sentences and he has to realise that if he keeps on breaching the order he reaches the point where even if he goes round with a bunch of flowers it is still a breach and he will go to prison."

Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said Hargreaves had made full and frank admissions and knew custody was inevitable.
