A FORMER pumping station on the River Aire in Shipley that has been empty for years could be converted into a house.
Last year Yorkshire Water listed the disused building, off Aireside Road, for auction with a £5,000 to £10,000 guide price.
The building was originally designed to house pumping equipment to support the now defunct Shipley sewage works, but hasn’t been used as a pumping station for a number of decades.
It has more recently been used as a workshop and office by Yorkshire Water.
However when the building came to auction last October, the property smashed expectations - selling for £65,000.
£1 million plans to refurbish Shipley building are approved
A planning application has now been submitted to Bradford Council to convert the building into a two bedroom house with mezzanine floor.
The application, by Michael Cleary, says: "The design makes use of the river views to create an interesting and contemporary open-plan live-work space and is a self-build project for owner occupation."
It says there will be minimal changes to the building under the plans. Changes will include the opening up of bricked up windows and the creation of three roof windows.
The property will have two off-street parking spaces.
A decision on the application is expected next month.
