A fire broke out at a carpet underlay firm causing damage to machinery.

On Wednesday evening at around 9.40pm, four fire crews from Rawtenstall, Haslingden and also Greater Manchester were called to the Duralay factory on Broadway in Haslingden.

On arrival they found a fire had broken out in the machine room but luckily it hadn't spread to the rest of the factory.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Four fire engines from Rawtenstall, Haslingden and Greater Manchester were called to a commercial fire on Broadway, Haslingden.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire, which was localised to one piece of machinery.

"No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation"
