A man is facing drink driving charges after police clocked him driving home from the pub while more than twice the legal limit.

Officers in Oswaldtwistle had just finished dealing with a separate incident in the town and were parked up close to a pub.

A man was spotted exiting the pub before getting into a van, driving approximately 500 metres, and then parking up outside his house.

Police approached the driver, breathalysed him, and discovered he was two and a half times the legal limit.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Police had just finished dealing with an incident in Oswaldtwistle.

"Whilst parked up in marked and unmarked vehicles, a male has come out of a local pub and then got into a van which was literally 50 metres away from the police vehicles.

"The male then drove out of the pub car park and drove approximately 500 metres down the road and parked up outside his home address.

"He was arrested for drink driving as he gave an evidential sample of 83mg, which is two and a half times the drink drive limit."

The man remains in custody and is expected to be charged by police on Monday morning.
