Pupils at Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and Sixth Form College (TIGHS) have secured places at top universities.

For A’Aishah Patel, her education will continue at the University of Manchester where she will read Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She achieved 3A*s – in History, Sociology and Chemistry and 1A - in Maths.

A’Aishah said: “I am overwhelmed to have achieved such incredible grades in all four subjects and so happy to be able to go on to the university and course of my choice. After a summer of so much anxiety and worry, it is a huge relief to receive these grades.”

Ayesha Moosa is looking forward to studying Law at the University of Leeds after securing three A*s - in Religious Studies, Politics and Sociology. She said: “It has been a dreadful few months and my heart goes out to everyone affected by the pandemic in so many different ways. I am so grateful to my teachers for all of their support and reassurance every step of the way.  Without them, and the devotion of my parents, I simply would not have achieved my dreams today.”

Aneesah Kholwadia has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study English after she was awarded an A* in Psychology, A* in English Literature and an A in Chemistry. 

She said: “I am so pleased to have this opportunity of a lifetime to study at such aprestigious university and feel so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life who have helped get to this moment.”

Asia Ali, Head of Sixth Form at TIGHS, described the pupils’ achievements as ‘wonderful’ and thanked pupils and staff “for their sincere devotion and constant efforts throughout the past year”.  

She said: “Although exams were rightly cancelled this year, it is still important for us all to celebrate and praise the achievements of each young person just as in any other year. Our pupils worked with dedication and commitment throughout their course and these results are very much deserved.

“We are now focusing on the year ahead and looking forward to supporting next year’s pupils to go on to achieve their very best.” 

The Sixth Form College at Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School has over 200 students completing a range of A-Level and vocational courses.
